After Paralysis

As I was mourning true love lost,
I glanced upon an empty chair
and cursed the soul who wasn't there.
Oh, how I wish I'd known the cost!

Touches heeded by frozen hands,
Mouths frozen, words left unsaid,
Forgotten nights alone in bed,
I wonder if she understands.
